Why is Sergiev Posad Tour so popular?
Saint Trinity Monastery in Sergiev Posad is one of Russia’s most important religious centers founded in the mid-14th century and in 1993 declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The picturesque ensemble of the monastery itself, comprising over 50 buildings and other structures, is a true gem of Russian architecture and often called “The Russian Vatican”. The Holy Trinity Lavra itself is a very lovely, picturesque monastery.
In 2014 all the buildings on the grounds including the fortification walls were renewed for 700-year anniversary of Sergey’s birth. The founder of the main monastery (Sergey Radonezh 1314-1392) is well known and respected in our country for his loyal dedication to God.
